The Congress

The Urological Association of Asia Congress (UAA) 2022 is an important event in the regional and international Urology community calendar. Since its inception more than 30 years ago, the Congress has successfully provided a platform for experts to share information and network with their fellow medical practitioners, academics, and industry players

The Congress has traditionally attracted on average 1000 to 1500 delegates in past years, with the most recent in-person event taking place in Malaysia in 2019 and achieving more than 1700 delegates from 46 countries. We are hopeful that 2022, the first time the congress has been hosted in Australia, will see 800 to 1000 delegates attending from the Asia-Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, and other countries worldwide. USANZ has a distinguished reputation for the high quality of its annual scientific meetings, which regularly attract up to 800 participants from around the globe including world renowned speakers. The Congress theme is “Asian Urology – Together Towards Tomorrow”. The committee plans to use this opportunity to fortify the bridges already existing between the various UAA member associations, and to build up relationships with emerging new groups such as young urologists and other practitioners from around the Asia Pacific region, including those from developing nations.

The Congress will cover all areas of urology and in addition to plenary sessions and streams, will feature symposia, workshops, and masterclasses in specialist areas such as Robotics, Reconstruction and Andrology, Female urology, and Endourology.

About UAA

UAA’s main objective is to promote Urology in Asia and to improve the care of Urology patients in the region, which has 60% of the world’s population. Currently, the UAA has 25 member associations representing more than 25,000 urologists in Asia.

Apart from the UAA Congress, which is now held annually, the UAA helps to run various workshops and seminars in the region. This is done through the Asian School of Urology (ASU) and the affiliated subspecialty societies, the Asian Society of Endourology (ASE), the Asian Society of Female Urology (ASFU), the Asian Association for Urinary Infections and STDs (AAUS), the Asian Society of Uro-oncology (APSU) and the Asia-Pacific Society of Reconstructive Urologists and Andrological Surgeons (AP-SRUAS).

The UAA works closely with International urological bodies such as the International Consultations on Urological Diseases (ICUD), the Society International Urology (SIU), The American Urological Association (AUA), the European Association of Urology (EAU) and the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) which is hosting the 2022 Congress.

About USANZ

Founded in 1937, the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) has more than 700 members, administers the Surgical Education and Training (SET) Program in Urology through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and organises Continuing Professional Development activities for its members including its Annual Scientific Meeting which routinely attracts around 1000 participants. The Society works with advocacy and support groups such as the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA); educates the public on urological issues via the media, and represents the views of urologists to governments, the health sector and medical industry.
